Tribeca Flashpoint College’s Sight & Sound Digital Media Youth Festival is designed for young creative talents to showcase their work in the areas of film, recording arts, animation, visual effects, and digital marketing. The theme for the 2017 Sight & Sound Festival is “Hero.”

2017 THEME: HERO

He-ro [hiro] a: a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities.
b: another term for a submarine sandwich.


What comes to mind when you hear the word Hero?

“Hero” is a word rich with storytelling potential, and we want your take to be represented at the 2017 Sight & Sound Digital Youth Festival. Submit your “Hero” themed projects to this year’s festival for your chance to take home one of our many prizes, including cash, scholarships to our 2017 NEXT LEVEL high school summer program, and more.

Mark your calendar with these important submission and event dates for the 2016 Sight & Sound Festival:

Submissions Open: November 20, 2016
Regular Submission Deadline: March 15, 2017
Festival selections announced: April 1, 2017
Festival date*: April 15, 2017
*Winners will be announced live at the festival on Saturday, April 15, 2017

 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The 2017 Sight & Sound Festival will accept work in six categories. See below for more information on how to enter.


Film

As an individual or as a group*, create an original film on the theme of “HERO.” Fiction, non-fiction, documentary, and music video submissions will be accepted.
Film length: no more than 4 minutes


Audio: Music Recording/Production

As an individual or as a group*, record a piece of music on the theme of “HERO.”
Track length: no more than 4 minutes


Audio: Sound Design for Visual Media

As an individual or as a group*, choose a still image on the theme “HERO,” and create a sound composition that tells a story for that image.
Track length: 1-2 minutes
Sound effects only (no music or speech)


Animation

As an individual or as a group, create an original 2D, 3D, or stop-motion animation on the theme of “HERO.”
Animation length: no more than 90 seconds.


Design and Graphics

As an individual or as a group*, create a 2D or 3D design for either a t-shirt or a poster in the theme of “HERO.”
Must utilize a raster program (like Adobe Photoshop), a vector program (like Adobe Illustrator), or a 3D program (like Maya or Blender).
