The Ventra U-Pass provides full-time students unlimited rides on CTA buses and trains during an academic term. Full-time status is defined as 12 credits or more. If you drop below full-time status or withdraw from the institution, your card will be deactivated. Pace and Metra are not part of the U-Pass program.
USING YOUR VENTRA U-PASS
Before using your Ventra U-Pass, you need to activate your card. To activate your Ventra U-Pass call 1-877-450-5328.
You will not need to obtain a new Ventra U-Pass each trimester. Your pass is good for up to five years. Each trimester, your U-Pass is activated from the first day of classes to the last day of the trimester. As long as you’re enrolled full-time in school, your U-Pass privileges are loaded onto your card automatically.
LOST OR STOLEN VENTRA U-PASS
If your card is lost or stolen, please notify the Registrar’s Office and then contact Student Accounts to pay the $50 replacement fee. The replacement Ventra U-Pass is shipped to the Registrar’s Office within 5-7 business days.
USING YOUR VENTRA U-PASS BETWEEN TRIMESTERS
Between trimesters or during break, you can add money to your account to use your Ventra card as a regular transit card. You can load value onto your card at any Ventra Vending Machine, over the phone, or at www.ventrachicago.com. When you’re back in school full-time, U-Pass riding privileges become available again, automatically, at the start of the session.
Please note: Your Ventra account must be in good standing prior to the start of the next term. If you have a negative balance on your Ventra Card, your U-Pass will not be activated until the negative balance is resolved with Ventra.
To check your card balance, go to ventrachicago.com/balance or call 1.877.NOW.VENTRA.
